THE WEAVE:

The Lion’s Gate on 8/8 signifies the time when the Earth aligns with the fixed star Sirius.

Ancient Egyptians related this transit to the flooding of the Nile. It’s a time for regeneration, when big energy comes pouring through. You can track the movements of previous Lion’s Gates to gain information about what the flavor of this time might taste like for you.

Lion’s Gate pushes me into where I need to be, and what I find on the other side is always more expansive than what I could have imagined, but I’ve been tracking something else within this pattern too…

Before regeneration, there is death.

For me, there’s a melancholy that mixes with the weeks before this portal. An ennui. A feeling like nothing will change, or that I haven’t changed enough.

For me, the Lion’s Gate requires a leap of faith. A deep trust that what is meant for me is with me. A belief that I can lean into death like a birth canal.

What happens for me in the Lion’s Gate is never a part of “the plan”, it’s the part where I let go of the plan.

In the weeks before the 2022 Lion’s Gate, I had no idea where I was going to land, literally. All of my best laid plans had crumbled. I was wandering around Missouri during flood season. Ants were colonizing my truck. Raccoons were making mischief of my belongings. I wanted to rest for a while in Chattanooga, TN, so I could make the calendar art in peace, but I couldn’t find a sublet. I landed in Asheville by happenstance, humbled by life, happy (for once) to be inside. Upon arrival, I walked directly up to my partner’s door, thinking it was my own.

I can tell you that the themes of my Lion’s Gate have to do with building community. Why? Because they occur in my 11th house of groups and gatherings.

This year, I am not making any dramatic physical moves, but the restless feeling that something must change is here, and so I leap…
